Frequently Asked Questions
I live some distance from Loddon. Can I use the Gym?
Yes. Our users come from all over and all are equally welcome.
How do I get started?
Pop in during one of our sessions and have a word with Louise, or contact her on 07534 946143 or ercg2016@gmail.com to arrange a convenient time. She will run you through what you need to do to start exercising, after a small number of necessary health checks.
I have a medical condition. Would that stop me from using the Gym?
Possibly though not necessarily. After speaking with Louise you may be asked to see your GP and get a formal exercise referral from them. We currently operate a scheme with Chet Valley and Heathgate Surgeries who welcome our contribution to community health and are familiar with our needs.
What should I wear?
Loose, comfortable clothing, ideally layered so you can remove one when you start to warm up. Comfortable shoes with a good grip. You don’t need to buy ‘workout gear’ unless you want to, just wear whatever is comfortable.
What should I bring?
A towel, a bottle of water and enthusiasm!
Are there showers and changing facilities?
New for 2025 we are grateful to Loddon Town Council and their Pride In Place grant for providing brand new shower facilities and refurbished toilets for Gym users. We don’t have lockers but there are plenty of hooks to hang bags and coats.
How much does it cost to use the Gym?
We keep fees as low as we can, to make sure as many people as possible can use the Gym. You can find our current prices here.
Where does the money go?
We are a not-for-profit gym run by a committee of volunteers. All income goes towards the running of the Gym. Fees alone are currently insufficient to run the Gym and we rely on other external funding and targeted fundraising. Find out how you can support the Gym here.
What gym equipment do you have?
We have a good range of cardiovascular machines as well as resistance machines, weights and other resistance equipment. See the full list of equipment here.
